Overview
For some users on older versions of Android, there may be an issue loading the login page if your Android System WebView version is not up to date.
WebView is a system component built-in to Android which allows apps like 1Place to load pieces of website content inside of an App, without having the user switch out to a full browser. Normally WebView updates by itself, but if you are using an older device or have recently done a factory reset, you may be using an older version.
Checking your Android version
To update WebView, we first need to know which version of Android is running on your device.
1. Open your list of apps and find an app called 'Settings' (it should have a cog/gear icon).
2. Tap on 'About Device' / 'About Phone' / 'About Tablet'.
3. You should either see a list item with the label 'Android Version' here or it will appear when you tap 'System Information'.
Updating WebView
Android 4.4 to 6.0.1
In Android versions 4.4 to 6.0.1, you will need to update an app called 'Android System WebView'.
To update this app:
1. Open the Google Play Store
2. Search for 'Android System WebView'
4. Tap the icon to open the store page for Google Chrome.
5. Tap the 'Update' button.
6. Open the 1Place app, and tap the 'Log In' button.
The login page should now load. If it doesn't load the first time, tap the application switching icon (usually a square at the bottom of the screen) and swipe to close the 1Place app, then find & reopen it.
Android 7+
On Android versions 7 and above, WebView is bundled as part of Google Chrome, so to update WebView you just need to make sure that Chrome is up-to-date.
1. Open the Google Play Store
2. Search for 'Google Chrome'
3. Tap the icon to open the store page for Google Chrome.
4. Tap the 'Update' button.
5. Once the update is complete, open the 1Place app and tap the 'Log In' button.
The login page should now load. If it doesn't load the first time, tap the application switching icon (usually a square at the bottom of the screen) and swipe to close the 1Place app, then reopen it.
