Device Requirements / Recommendations

Software Information:

1Place Compliance Manager is available for:
  • Android (7+)
  • iOS/iPadOS (13+)
  • Amazon FireOS (7+)
Alternatively, a Progressive Web App (PWA) version of 1Place Compliance Manager can be used from any modern web browser via:
This PWA version has a few features that work a bit differently (e.g. taking photos) but otherwise is very equivalent to the mobile app.

Regardless of which device you're using, we strongly recommend updating to the latest available version of your OS. This helps guarantee that you have the latest system features and security patches.

Hardware Recommendations:

The 1Place app doesn't generally require a lot of performance or storage space to run smoothly, so you definitely don't need a top-of-the-line device in order to have a good experience with the app. That being said, if you're planning to do very large, high detail audits with hundreds of photos, you may want to check with us and make sure that what you have will be up to the task.

Our general recommendation is to buy a device released in the last two years or so, from a reputable manufacturer. This ensures you're not getting something that's already approaching end-of-life, and that you're likely to get updates and support for a good length of time.

1Place Compliance Manager will work just fine on smartphones, but a tablet is probably best if you want a dedicated device.
If you have no idea what to pick, I would recommend either the Apple iPad mini (5th Generation - 2019) or the Samsung Galaxy Tab A (2019). The iPad mini has an 8" screen, while the Galaxy Tab A comes in both 10" and 8" versions.
A lot of our clients seem to prefer ~8" tablets because they're a good balance of screen-size and weight.

Some other devices which we're confident recommending:
  • Apple iPad
    • Air (3rd Gen - 2019)
    • Air (4th Gen - 2020)
    • iPad 10.2" (7th Gen - 2019)
    • iPad 10.2" (8th Gen- 2020)
    • Pro (all models / years)
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab
    • A-Series
      • Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.4 (2020)
      • Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 10.4 (2020)
    • S-Series
      • S5e (2019)
      • S6 (2019)
      • S6 Lite (2020)
      • S7 (2020)
      • S7+ (2020)
Of course there are a variety of other manufacturers in the Android-space which will work just as well. Again, more recent devices are likely to last longer in terms of support.
If accessories such as cases/keyboards are important, I expect these will be easiest to find for the popular brands like Apple and Samsung, as they make decent first-party accessories, and seem have a larger selection of third-party ones than smaller manufacturers.
